Introducing- Imoni Events!

We are taking some time to introduce some of our favorite vendors to work with and we’re kicking it off with the lovely ladies at Imoni Events!  We spoke with owner and creator, Jen Thye and asked her to fill out our vendor personality questionnaire!  Read her fun answers below and check out her amazing company and team for your next event!

Imoni Events Vendor Questionnaire

How did you come up with your company name? I like pretty things.  So when I decided to start a company in event planning, I wanted a pretty name.  I also didn’t want something that was cliché.  So I picked a bunch of words that mean a lot in a marriage and looked them up in other languages.  Imoni means “faith”.  It takes a lot of faith to pledge to be married to someone for the rest of your life.  It also takes a faith in your event planner to make sure everything goes off without a hitch.  So it was perfect.

If your entire team were stuck on an island for a year, how would each of you respond? We are all pretty girly girls, so I am pretty sure we wouldn’t make it a year.  I would be the first to cry.  Gretchen would not.  She would be the one who would start to organize the lay of the land so we could “live” as humanly as possible.  And Kate would be in charge of food.  She would also be the one who would come up with an escape plan.

Would anyone be sacrificed? Probably me, Jen.  I am the most emotional and that’s just not practical when you are fighting for your life.  :o)

If your life became a biography, what would the title be? “Life in the Fast Lane”- for multiple reasons…

If your team were a band, what would everyone play and what would your music style be? We would be a more singer song writer style, with a twist.  We would come up with our own songs.  Some good, some not so much.  But they would all have meaning to us.  Kind of like “The Wreckers”.  Kate would be the drummer since she is the wild one at heart.  Gretchen would be the piano player, not sure why…  And Jen would be the singer/guitar player.  Very cool chick band of course!

If you were a TV show character, who would you be? I would be Pam from the Office.  Good at her job, nice sense of humor, and gets along with most people in the office.

What are your favorite kind of sneakers, and why? If I am working out, Adidas.  If I am running errands, Keds.  They are comfortable.  Period.

What is your ring tone/caller tune, and what does it say about you? It is the standard “ring, ring” that comes when you buy the phone.  It means I am not good at technology and have way too much to do to try and figure out how to change it.

In Vegas, you’re most likely to be the one…..? Who wins!!  I am very lucky and very smart.  I love playing poker.  The guys never suspect that I am as good as I am and I walk away when the winnings are good.  I don’t have anything to prove so I walk before the money wastes away.

If you were to win the lottery, what would your charity of choice be and why? I would give to the Invisible Children of the Sudan.  I just can’t stand it that there are kids out there that have to hide so they do not get placed in child armies.  Kids who do their homework for school by candlelight in a random basement because education isn’t valued in their war torn village.  It breaks my heart!  I would probably give money and them adopt as many of those kids as I could fit in my new house.

At Barnes and Noble, what section are we most likely to find you? History.  I was a history and political science major in college.  I LOVE history!!

If you were a song lyric, which song lyric would you be? “Girls just want to have fu-un!  Oh, girls just wanna have fun!  That’s all they really wa-aa-aa-aant….”  Should I go on???

At the end of the day the most important thing in life is FAMILY!

Is your zodiac sign correct about you?  What is it and why? Leo.  And it totally is.  Not sure I want to list the reasons why.  Some are good.  But some, not so much.

So there you have it, Jen from Imoni Events!  We can attest to the fact that they do a phenomenal job with their events, are amazing ladies, and one of our favorite vendors!  Thanks Jen!

Kimberly Jarman Photography Vendor Questionnaire!

For the next few Saturdays we are going to be sharing a little bit about some of our favorite wedding vendors that we’ve been working with over the last few years. There are some AMAZING people out there and we have gotten some very fun and interesting interviews with some of our favorite people. I can’t wait to introduce you to them!!

We only felt it was right to interview ourselves as well because some of the questions we asked, were well… how do you put it… FREAKING HARD to answer!!! So the Kimberly Jarman Team put ourselves through the same hard interview process as we are asking our wonderful vendor friends and we are going to share them with you. We hope that this gives you a little more perspective as to who we are. I died laughing seeing everyones responses. We are a very interesting crew!   Here are the answers of all 3 of us, the lovely and amazing (we hope) Kimberly Jarman Photography Team!

How did you come up with your company name?

KJ- If you know me, you know that I am a complicated sort. I like to make things difficult and then decide it’s finally time to simplify. When I first started my company the name was Michelle Allen Photography. I thought I was all cute and clever because it was my middle name and my husbands middle name… then everyone started calling me Michelle and didn’t know why Kimberly was showing up to their events and not Michelle…. So, I made the switch and went simple. I’ve learned to like my name and I think everyone is thankful that i’m not confusing them anymore.

JP-  I’m going out on a limb here…but I think it’s the title of Kim’s favorite book.  Or movie?

KB – I just thought Kimberly had the most BEAUTIFUL name. I mean, Kimberly… it just rolls right off your tongue ;).

If your entire team were stuck on an island for a year, how would each of you respond?

KJ- I’m glad that the other girls wrote their stuff out first because it makes me laugh! I agree with Kim.. I think I would probably try to calm everyone, including me, down and put on my I mean business face and figure out a plan. I would schedule out who did what and what needs to happen. I would probably make Jenny and K.Bee get in line and stop looking for guys and frolicking.. it’s all about business!! Ha!

JP- I’d immediately make us some super cute indigenous outfits, then patrol the island for even cuter men.  (obviously)  I hope the other two would get on things like food…water…shelter…

KB- I’d respond by frolicking in the water and making sand angels on the beach. While apparently wearing matching garb and keeping my eye out for sustenance and shelter. Kim would probably be planning our itinerary and looking for great light, and Jenny, obviously, would be off hunting for hot native men.

What is your signature dance move?

KJ- I had to look up dance moves from the 80’s and 90’s because that’s probably the last time I really danced. I know, I’m old! Anyways I found some great ones that used to be signature moves.. and since I know you are all dying to see how great I looked I thought I would share a few of them on You Tube!!

1) Running Man – Oh yes, I can still do this and yes I probably still look as idiotic as we all did back in the 80’s. Why are the 80’s coming back… really? Watch this video… the 80’s should be banned.

2) Kid N Play – Lots of variation, but this was a favorite.

3) Ok, so i’m sad to say that my true signature move I don’t remember the name and after trying to find it on You Tube i’m wondering if I just made it up and thought I looked cool. So sorry.. you will all never really know! But it was probably a combination of MC Hammer moves that I did at a school talent show.. cuz I was cool like that! And yes, I did dance it for Jenny and she laughed very hard, but didn’t know what it was called either!

JP-  Ummm…they’re all signature.  You can’t teach this.

KB- It’s this leg kicking, hip swinging, two fingers sliding over my eyes, gyrating move. I’ve been perfecting it for years.

If your life became a biography, what would the title be?

KJ- Hmmm… I don’t know!

JP-  “I Swear This is Non-Fiction…No…Really.”

KB- It would probably be a combo of titles already taken: Confessions of a Domestically Challenged Half Insane Working Mom. Or something like that.

If you were a TV show character, who would you be?

KJ- Well since I don’t know who I would be, i’ll tell you who I wanted to be. Again, back in the 80’s there was a show called Time Stands Still – It had a girl who put her fingers together and time froze. I loved that and wanted to be her. Who wouldn’t want to freeze time!

JP-   Dexter.  Kidding!!!  I wish I would be Kramer, but I think I’m a cross between all 3 chicks on Friends.

KB- Uniqua. I have no clue.

What are your favorite kind of sneakers, and why?

KJ- Nike’s – I’ve tried others and can’t go back. I’m a sports chica and Nike’s are the only way to go.

JP-  Pumas.  Retro style.  One stripe.  Snap.

KB- (right now): retro 70’s ghettofabulous pumas from the thrift store. Green and gold. So ugly they’re cute.

In Vegas, you’re most likely to be the one…..?

KJ- Sleeping. Sadly yes, I’m the one who goes to Vegas with high hopes of partying through the night and by 11 or 12 i’m done. I leave the party and go to bed. Happens every time! (Kim.. we both are boring.. that’s why Jenny’s here to help spice things up!! Ha!!)

JP-   That is dressed in an outfit you can ONLY get away with in Vegas.  Silver spangly bikini top and black satin shorts?  Yes please.

KB- I’d probably be the one most excited about going home? Me and Vegas are like Zoolander and coal mining. ((weak high-pitched cough, cough)). Jenny, stop making me sound boring!

If you were to win the lottery, what would your charity of choice be and why?

KJ- Gosh that’s hard. I have a lot of charities that I would probably give to. I think i’d give a little bit to a lot of different places that are dear to my heart. National MS Society, Thirst Relief, Autism, and more.

JP-   City of Hope Leukemia Foundation.  My bff survived leukemia with a bone marrow transplant from her brother, at 26.  Miracle from prayer, no doubt in my mind.

KB- Family Matters and Harvest International. I love their message, their mission, and everything they represent.

If you were a song lyric, which song lyric would you be?

KJ- Don’t ask me questions like this…. I don’t know the words to any songs unless they are playing at the moment … or they are children’s songs, because right now I sing a lot of those.

JP-  (dude I made hard questions!)  “I go for mine, I got to shine, now throw your hands up in the sky”~ Kanye West

KB- twinkle twinkle little star. These ARE hard!

At the end of the day the most important thing in life is ___________.

KJ- My Family  – They are my all and all and the thing that keeps me going through the day.

JP-  Living a life you are happy in! And family 🙂

KB- family

Your favorite song in high school was…?

KJ- Anything Boys to Men. Yes, I would listen to it and think of the boy I currently liked. If we were dating and things were good it was good times, if not I would repeat the song over and over and cry.  I think this is way too much information.  Jenny what are you doing to us with these questions!!:)

JP-  My Way–Usher.  Still my favorite dance beat!

KB- I can’t think of a favorite song, but I had Spin Doctors, REM, Counting Crows, Steve Miller Band, and Erasure often playing. Don’t judge!

Christa Scott - One of my favorite post…ever! This made me laugh out loud numerous times as I heard you all saying these lines in my head! You are all awesome! 🙂

April Showers bring New Clothes {Fashion Frenzy Friday’s with JennyP}

Spring fashion is here!  I don’t know about all of you, but I love the beginning of this season because by March I am truly sick of wearing 86 layers of gray sweaters.  This isn’t to say I’m eagerly hoping for the sweltering days of July when all I’m willing to wear is my thinnest dress and nothing that’s going to stick to me.  No, for me I love the change in season when dresses, skirts, shorts, and little tops come back, but maybe you still throw on a little sweater at night.  I like all that spring represents as well.  New flowers, new growth, new beginnings.  The shedding of winter is good in my world, and this spring I’m really excited about the styles hitting all the stores!

Apparently pretty is back, and I, for one, am loving it.  Last spring we saw lots of rocker chick styles: the skintight jeans, crazy-strappy black heels, and really structured tops.  Well, I was incredibly excited when I opened up my most recent Cosmopolitan (how hot is Amanda Seyfried on the cover by the way??) to see a bunch of ruffly, floaty, floral, pink, PRETTY clothes!  Maxi dresses covered in flowers, soft fabrics, and pastel colors were all over my magazine and it made me just feel happy!  I think most women, universally, want to look pretty, and pretty clothes seem like a no-brainer to me.  I’m totally digging all the ruffles and girly embellishments on this season’s clothes, and I think they are just more flattering.  Not a lot of people can pull off sharp shoulders, skintight jean leggings, and catwalk heels (and for real, how many of you have weekly schedules conducive to this look?  Are you all secretly working at MTV?).  A floaty top with jeans and little pink ballet slippers is a much more functional outfit, in my opinion, for the average woman, and it’s still pretty!

The thing about this spring, is that some of that edge has still carried over, resulting in such a fun combo of rocker and pretty.  Rockpretty?  New word anyone?  A lot of designers kept the high-voltage shoes, bags, metallic colors, but paired them with the soft fabrics and looser styles.  I am obsessed with this combo!  It kind of says, “I’m the homecoming queen…that could beat you up.”  Who doesn’t want to give out that vibe?!   Here are some of my favorite spring looks:

Flower shoes, floaty dresses, and a poufy gold party dress?  Yes please!

Looking super cool while sporting a spring dress in tough girl colors?  Ruffles all down your shirt? Gorgeous!

So my advice in adopting this season’s spring looks is to incorporate a few pieces at a time.  Add a ruffly top to your standard jeans, grab a fun dress off the rack for your next date night, and take note of the model’s hair–wavy and loose, but still sleek in front.  These looks are so easy to copy and put into your routine!  Get girly this spring!

So very blessed, a little humbled, and an amazing team | Kimberly’s Corner

This week I realized how blessed I am in my business. Every day I feel blessed, but this week I am humbled and especially blessed. Why? Well because on Tuesday I sat down to have a business meeting and I was joined by the amazing Jenny P and the amazing Kimberly Bee. We talked and chatted and came up with great ideas, lofty goals, and a plan. A plan that is split between 3 girls and not just me! A plan to conquer and divide. A plan to move forward and become a better studio. A plan to help our clients and our future clients. I realized that my dreams and hard work have paid off and what used to be a little photography studio that I worked on out of my house, has become something bigger than I really thought that it would ever be. I have a gorgeous studio space that I get to come to every day and I have a team of girls that I am honored to be around and so grateful that they want to be around me.

This week both JennyP and Kimberly Bee have joined us on the blog and I LOVE what they bring to this team. They are creative, fun, hard working, and really amazing girls. They are friends that I have begun to cherish and they are both so much fun to have around.

I feel so many times that I can’t do all that is required of me and that I somehow manage to always take on more work than I should… and then these girls jump in and blow me away in what they are willing to help me out with and move forward with.

Owning your own business is a lot of work. It takes a team; it takes trust and loyal people to help you succeed in the dreams that you have. I’m grateful that I have this team now as it is so much for fun than working all by your lonesome!!! I can’t wait to see it grow and to see all the things that are accomplished!

So today’s post goes out to the girls at Kimberly Jarman Photography. I have to thank you for all that you do and all that you are going to do. We are going to go places girls and I couldn’t do it without you!

Dressing For the Life We Want {Fashion Frenzy Friday’s with JennyP}

Jenny here again with your Fashion Frenzy Friday post.

Your clothes say SO much about you, things you don’t even realize they’re saying, and I think I’m taking note of mine this week.

Let’s look at some examples I saw recently:  woman in parking lot wearing stretched out red sweater, faded jeans, hair in messy ponytail, tennis shoes, and a huge pink puffy diaper bag on one arm.  We don’t need an analyst, this woman is a mom!  Probably a tired mom whose baby is still waking up all night and the fact that she even got her pants on correctly is a testament to her amazingness, so hat’s off to you my love!       Example 2:  Girl running to her car at the gas station;  jeans, U of A t-shirt, sunglasses, flip flops, and messenger bag on her arm.  I’m guessing student when I look at her.  The relaxed clothes, the flip flops, and the messenger bag are sending me messages without even consciously thinking about what I’m receiving from her.

Now let’s talk about the woman who inspired my post today—age was truly unknowable, I’m guessing an amazing looking 35-40, dark skinny jeans, ballet flats, white perfectly fitted t-shirt, long pink scarf loose around her neck and long gray cardigan.  I wanted to BE this woman she looked so cute!  Upon telling her I loved her scarf, I find out she is….a police officer off-duty!  Excuse me?  I didn’t get that vibe at all!  I figured she was a retail manager, something in writing, or maybe even a lady who lunches?!  I was looking at her adorable outfit and could not see that transforming into the male-structured garb of a police uniform!  So this got me thinking, what do my clothes vibe out about me?

Today I’m wearing black leggings, a tight gray and black striped sweater dress, knee-high black boots, and a wide black belt around my middle.  This isn’t because I’m a fashionista at all times, it’s because all of my jeans are in the laundry!  I probably look a little high-maintenance today, someone who is constantly dressing up and putting on lip gloss…which I am so NOT!  But….I like this secret identity dressing!  If I want to appear like a European transport model tomorrow, I’m going to download Kate Moss’ pictures and start copying!  If I want to get a student discount at the movies tomorrow, I’m busting out my ASU (Go Devils!) sweatshirt and scrubbing off this makeup!  My persona can change with my outfit, much like the revered and idolized Madonna, and I think I’m going to start working that power!

What do your clothes say about you?  Everyone should take a few moments to think about this.  If you’re in a high-powered job, or want to be, you should take a long look in the mirror.  Are your shoes scuffed up?  Is your collar wrinkled?  Is your white shirt looking as crisp as it can?  If you’re a business owner at a networking meeting, do you look believable?  If you’re in your comfy jeans and you air-dried your hair today, people might not take your business ideas, no matter how amazing, very seriously!   It might sound a little shallow, but if you think about it, your clothes are an extension of your personality and life.  Heidi Klum dresses like a supermodel, well, because she is one!  If you’re a real estate agent, why are you dressing like you operate a daycare?  Non-verbal communication is like 80% of what people get from you, this includes appearance.  So let’s all pull out the full-length mirror and start dressing the way we want people to view us!  This isn’t to say you shouldn’t be yourself, just make sure you’re being your BEST self when you’re putting on those clothes.  They’re not just to avoid public indecency!
