Grand Opening Party | Photography Studio | Downtown Mesa

6 years ago I started on this journey of owning my own business and starting a photography studio. It was a little scary and a little exciting. I think that people thought it was just a fad.. maybe a hobby, but when my family and friends saw that I was serious and saw my business start to succeed they were truly proud of me. It hasn’t been easy. The journey to where I am now has had a lot of highs and lows, a lot of giggles and a lot of tears. But life is good. Business is good. And I still LOVE what I do.There has been a lot of change in the last 6 years. Change in my outlook, my approach, my style, my photography, my business, my family, and locations.

2 years ago we made a huge jump to move out of my house and open up a studio. I wanted people to know that I was serious and that I was for real. A studio showed that I was in it for the long haul. We moved to a decent size space of 700 square feet and it was wonderful. It was like a Chicago loft. Totally different than anything that was in Arizona. I was in love with the space and really enjoyed going to work and getting out of my pajamas!

This last summer change happened again. It wasn’t planned. In fact I was about to sign another 3 year lease for the location that I was in, but it wasn’t meant to be. In all reality we needed more space. My business continues to grow and to go any further we needed to make a huge leap of faith and get more exposure and space. So, this summer we took the plunge and moved once again. This time it is a much bigger location with store front space and a space for a shooting studio. After over 8 weeks of renovations we are so close to officially opening our doors. The building is done, the paint is up, the floors are shiny, and the furniture has all been purchased. The only thing left are the final touches… hanging all the images that I have photographed over the last years.I’m excited to finally have this project complete and open to everyone. It’s been a rough few months, but next week we open the doors for real.

I want to personally invite you to our New Studio Grand Opening Party.

If you have ever wanted to see what we do and more of our work now is a great opportunity to come. We will be giving out a lot of specials as well for portraits so you won’t want to miss it!

Heather + Chris

Heather and Chris are getting married in September. It’s my next wedding and I’m totally excited. They have such a fun story of how they met. Heather was in the band at ASU and Chris was in the band at University of Washington. They met at a band function and hit it off. Since then they’ve been dating long distance and are finally getting married.

They are so cute! We had to get some of their school spirit in the photo’s!

We then headed over to downtown Gilbert and got some great shots!

A little fun!!!

LOVE!

Kim’s Bridal Session | Bridal Portraits | Scottsdale Wedding Photographer

I have never done a “Bridal Session” until Kimberlee asked me to do one of her. I know all of you from the south are in shock right now. Bridal sessions are very popular in most states, but here in AZ we just do an engagement session and then do a few bridals the day of the wedding; however, I really like the idea of a bridal session for a couple of reasons.

1) Usually on the day of the wedding everything is going so fast and one of the first things that get’s cut is a lot of pictures of the bride. How sad. So a bridal session is a great way to get some really amazing pictures.

2) The bride spends so much time getting ready, finding her perfect dress, getting her hair and makeup flawless. I know for me personally I have never looked as good as I did on my wedding day, so having pictures of this time in your life is important.

Some people will do bridals before hand and others will do it after the wedding. Either way, be prepared to do things that you wouldn’t do on the day of the wedding. Be prepared to get some really fun and neat pictures.

I LOVE how Kimberlee’s bridals turned out. She is a stunning bride and everytime I take pictures of her I am in awe with how well she photographs. I worked on them all night last night and found some new favorites. Here are few of my favs.

Lauren - Kim the bridal shots turned out amazing! I absolutely LOVE your style of photography.

I have been following your blog forever now, and I am an aspiring photographer. I am friends with the Robinson Family and found you through their pictures. You have had an amazing influence on me and my photography as I develop my style. Your photos are so great! I actually just got a Canon 30d, and I'm so excited for more than a point 'n shoot. I'm only 13 so I've been saving forever for that 30d! I am so excited. Anyways… just wanted to introduce myself and tell you that your photos are amazing! I have seen so many photographer's work, but I always come back to yours because I love the style. Amazing job, girl!!!

My website is laurenharrellphotography.com

I haven't put a scratch in the surface of all my pictures, and the ones up there aren't great because they were taken on a Canon Powershot A590. I'm hoping to do more portraiture now that I have my 30d.

Thanks a million! You are so amazing!

Laura + Nick | Mesa Arizona | Wedding Photography

I’ve known Laura for 8 years now. She was in the very first small group that I led at my church. Wow, I feel so old!!! I was so excited to be able to photograph her wedding in June.

Nick and Laura are a lot of fun and so was the entire wedding party. Now, you have to take in consideration that the wedding was in June.. in Arizona… in 100+ degree weather. It was INSANE!!! Everyone were such troopers as I dragged them outside to do pictures!!

Some lovely details!! Have you ever heard of mygarter.com? I haven’t but I guess it doesn’t surprise me!

The girls getting ready.

Love this ring shot that Kim B got for me. (Love ya Kim).

Laura is fun!!!

Probably one of my favorite shots of all time. This is going up in my studio!

Nick doesn’t look too shabby?

A part of their first look:) I thought it was fun.

I Love Villa Siena. It’s beautiful to photograph.

The ceremony was at Trinity Baptist Church.

My husband and daughter were guest of the event so I can’t help but put a picture of her up here!!

Isn’t she beautiful!

The guys were crackups!

Kim B got this great shot of some of the girls looking on at Laura. Love it.

Lots of beautiful details!

I Love first dances.

And i’m a sucker for good father/daughter dances too!

The wonderful and amazingly talented girls at Outstanding Occasions helped plan this wedding and they were phenomenal. You should all hire them to help plan your events!!
