Jennifer + Lyle | Hotel Valley Ho

It’s been a crazy spring so far. We have already completed 11 weddings and we have 11 more to go!!! We are staying on schedule, which is good, except for the blog. I’ve slacked a little on speediness to the blog, but we want to make sure our Bride and Grooms are getting their images before we focus too much on other things, so as soon as we can get weddings up we will!!!

This wedding was photographed by the wonderful and amazing team of KB and Tina Le Burnham (guest shooter). Thank you girls for doing amazing things!!! I always love seeing what my associate’s photograph… they get some amazing weddings and produce stunning images.

Jennifer and Lyle got married on March 6, 2011 at The Hotel Valley Ho. The wedding was beautiful!

Jennifer and Lyle both got ready in tower suites at the Hotel, which are amazing for pictures. Their family and friends were around and I love how the girls captured everything.

The ceremony was beautiful. Amazing colors and traditions. The Cocktail hour was on the top of the roof at The Hotel Valley Ho and was stunning.

Jennifer and Lyle, we are so happy for you!! Congratulations on everything, you looked beautiful!

As with all of our amazing weddings, they wouldn’t be possible without the team of incredible vendors that help to create the day!  A huge thank you goes out to:

Venue: The Hotel Valley Ho

Officiant: Temple Chai

Florist: Amanda Johnson

Cake Artist: La Dolce Pesca

Hair Stylist: Plush Salon

Makeup Artist: Linda Wagner

Musician/DJ: Limelight Entertainment

Gown: Destiny’s Bride

Videography: Serendipity

Invitations: The Paper Place

Since our studio associates do such an amazing job and work so great as a team, we’ve now started marking our blog with just our associate logo, so you can see how amazing they work as a team. Below are some of my favorite images from the wedding.

Changes: Sometimes easy. Sometimes hard. Always good

{posted by kimberly jarman}

What a crazy crazy year it’s been!! It’s been good! There have been so many changes at the studio and I couldn’t be happier for what has happened. Change always happens. It is a way of life and is necessary for people to grow and businesses to grow. I always get excited when change is in the air, because I know big things are ahead for us! Sometimes change can easy and sometimes it can be hard. Sometimes it can make you party and dance, sometimes it can make you reflect, cry, and be still.

Today I have to let you know of some changes. While there are a ton of party and dance changes happening at the studio, today’s change is one of those reflect, cry and be still changes. It hasn’t been easy to accept or understand, but it’s necessary and gonna be really good.

One of the things I always talk to my girls (team) about is letting me know when things are going on in their lives. Making sure that they are happy. Making sure that the “team” is working out. I have an open door policy to everyone to be open and upfront. I want everyone to be taken care of and happy.

We are a tight nit group. We laugh together and we cry together. We truly love each other and want what is best for each other.

It’s been a tough economy this year and because of that there have been a lot of struggles for everyone!! Not just us as a team, but everyone around. Everyone has felt it.

There are actually 3 big changes to the studio that are occurring right now that I need to share with everyone.

1) About a month ago I got a call from KB. The minute I started talking to her I realized it was probably going to be a crying call. We had a lot to talk about. She had decided that in order to provide best for her family she needed to go back on her own in photography. While she LOVED working for the studio and being an associate and having a lot of time with her family, she needed to make a change which was going to best for her family. We talked, we cried, we cried some more and we finally came to the conclusion that it was for the best. I was so sad, not because I didn’t want the best for her, but because I felt like I was loosing such a huge part of me with her not being around. However, I support her decision 100%. We have to do what is best for our family.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Don’t panic all of you who love KB, and love the KJ Studio or have already booked KB or were thinking of booking KB…don’t panic.

KB has committed to stay on the team and 100% fulfill all of her duties that she has taken on. She will still be shooting her weddings for the studio and any portrait sessions that she has agreed to do. She is not accepting any more weddings or sessions through the studio, but will be doing limited sessions on her own.

As for the studio, we are still going strong. We are shooting and doing business as normal. We are working with one of our other amazing photographers, Christa, who we were already planning on having come on as an associate with KB next year, and are hashing out details so that we do have an associate photographer available for all of you who still want that Kimberly Jarman Studio Wedding and are on a budget. So no worries, we’ve got you covered!!!

2) Our other wonderful associate Mary Jordan (who was photographing portraits for us) has also decided that she needs to go on her own. This has been a hard decision for her, but it’s necessary. We have been so busy with weddings that we haven’t photographed as many portrait sessions this year and you can’t take care of your family if you are not working…so, Mary will be doing her own sessions and weddings. She is a phenomenal photographer and I’m so happy for her and for going out there on her own. Great news about Mary though is that she will 100% still be 2nd shooting on our team at weddings, which is what she’s been doing the last year. So I don’t feel like I’m loosing her at all, she’s just blossoming on her own.

3) Christa, our other associate, has been working with me for over a year 2nd shooting as well. I’ve been mentoring her for almost 2 years now and she is amazing. She has grown so much in her photography and I’m so happy for her. We are having meetings lately to see if it would work for her to come on as an associate. We are hashing out some details and making sure we do everything in a way that will be beneficial for her, me, and all of you!! We are excited to see what will be happening with this and will announce that news as soon as we have it available.

While all of this has been hard and emotional for everyone, we are all so thankful that it has gone well. We all still love each other dearly and are very happy for the changes this brings in everyone’s family. I am very happy to see what happens in these girls lives and careers and excited to see what will happen to the studio as well.

Please know that this is a good thing for all. I support these girls 100% and am thankful to be a part of their lives.

The studio is still growing strong and there are so many things that I can’t wait to share with all of you. New projects, new opportunities, and new ideas.

If you have any questions about this or what this means for you or the studio, don’t hesitate to contact us!

JennyP is MIA This Week!

Well my friends, this week my car blew up, I have the flu, my boyfriend flew into town, and my parent’s 37th wedding anniversary party is happening.  Between the party-planning, car repairs, and thousands of Dayquil and Nyquil capsules I’m consuming, nothing I could say would make sense!

Please look back next week when I dissect the signature looks of Hollywood beauty icons, thanks to the amazing idea from one of our soon-to-be-brides, Vanessa Saldana 🙂 Until then, I’ll be coughing in the corner, wishing my feet would choose a temperature-either freezing or burning-I really don’t care which degree they settle on at this point.

I met Angela when she was in 7th grade. I was her bible study teacher. Man I feel old.

Angela also was my very first office manager when she was in High School and for many years has been color correcting weddings and sessions for me.

So, when she called to tell me she was engaged I freaked out.. Angela is my girl and she’s getting married???? I’m so honored that she asked me to photograph her wedding and so excited I got to photograph her engagement session and meet Seth. I’m so happy for them and they are soooo cute together!!

I can’t wait until the wedding, but until then here are a few favorites from the session!!

Style Icon: Elizabeth Taylor

Oh what a sad week it is, when the most beautiful woman in the world passes away.  At the age of 79, the incredibly beautiful, sexy, talented, tumultuous, complex, violet-eyed Elizabeth Taylor passed away and I have to say, I feel pretty sad.

To me, there are actors and then there are MOVIE STARS and Elizabeth Taylor was a true movie star, one of the last remaining icons from that Golden Era of Hollywood, and to have her go means we are losing that era a bit.  So, here’s a tribute to that woman that was revered in her lifetime as the most beautiful woman alive.  Can you imagine, being known that way?

Elizabeth Style Point #1:  Be Genetically Blessed Beyond Reason

I mean, it’s not hard to be in style when your face could sell a million dollars in movie tickets at a time when movie tickets were less than a dollar. You cannot stop looking at this woman’s face!  Her purple eyes, her pouty mouth, her steamy gaze…..she’s so beautiful it hurts.  Oh and the smokin’ hot body doesn’t hurt.

Elizabeth Style Point #2: Make Everything Sexy Without Trying to be Sexy

She isn’t trying to be sexy, she isn’t really doing anything sexy, and she certainly didn’t live in a time when revealing clothes were accepted, but oh my goodness did she have sex appeal!  Yes, her personal life’s marriage turnover rate added to the flame of her fire, but she was such a great example that sex appeal doesn’t come from skimpy outfits or surgically enhanced bodies or inappropriate public displays, it comes from some inner reservoir of HOT.

Elizabeth Style Point #4:  Don’t Give it All Away

Elizabeth Taylor didn’t give a million interviews on her personal life, she didn’t write a tell-all book, and she certainly didn’t run around places begging for paparazzi. There were a million rumors swirling around her life, a million ideas about who she was, and a million versions of stories including her, but you weren’t hearing it from her.  She kept her private life private as much as she could. She had controversy but she didn’t comment on it.  She didn’t attend every single trendy event, and she didn’t sell out her friends (she never spoke talked about Michael Jackson, Liza Minnelli, etc).  The woman was a bit of mystery.  There’s nothing more stylish than being classy, and she was by not giving it all away.  Her presence was a privilege, her words were a privilege, and she was smart to make it that way.

Elizabeth Taylor Style Point #5: Work the Brows

Her eyebrows were amazing.  Just check them out. They speak for themself.

She will be so missed!
