Carnival Themed Edgy Family Session = Amazing

One of my favorite things about portrait sessions is being able to get a little creative and think outside of the box. When Sarah contacted me this year for their annual photo’s she was a little stuck on what to do. She sent me over some sample of images that she liked and as I was looking at them, I had a vision… we started up a pinterest board and started sharing images that inspired us both… between that and a few phone calls we came up with an amazing idea; a carnival themed edgy family session; if anyone could pull it off, this family could. Sarah started right away on costume design and made most of these clothes; her vision was dead on with mine (I love it when that happens). The family came together and pulled off one of my favorite shoots ever. We wanted dark, moody, and edgy and I think we nailed it. LOVE these images so much.

Wedding at the ARIZONA BILTMORE | BRITTANY BRANNON AND ANTHONY KENNADA

KennadaBlogHeader

The Photographers for Brittany & Anthony’s wedding:  Kimberly Jarman (Lead Photographer) // Elise (2nd Shooter) // Kayla (3rd Shooter) // Assistant (Lauren)

Wedding at the Arizona Biltmore.

Brittany and Anthony had a breathtaking wedding at the Arizona Biltmore; it was the kind of wedding where our entire team stopped and stared in awe at every teeny, tiny, minuscule detail. It was a gold and glitter filled day and stunningly beautiful!

Brittany and Anthony met on a blind date (he had never been on a blind date, she had ONLY been on blind dates). They were quickly attracted to each other for their spirit and hearts, which was made apparent many times throughout the day. After falling head over heels in love with each other, and a lavish vineyard proposal in Napa, the couple quickly set off on their wedding planning. It was a wedding where every detail was planned beautifully.

The Ceremony was held on the main lawn at the Arizona Biltmore and was a sight to be seen. After their 18 person wedding party walked down the aisle, Brittany, and her father, walked down the aisle towards the man of her dreams. There was a large cross at the end of the alter, and they couple was married by their close friend and pastor. Brittany’s sister and brother performed a song during the ceremony while the couple took communion and signed a Ketubah. After that, they sealed it with a kiss and walked down the aisle as husband and wife as they were showered with rose petals by their guests.

After the ceremony we walked the grounds around the Biltmore for some gorgeous portraits of these two,  which was not difficult at all! Brittany is a former Miss Arizona and models quite a bit, so she’s very comfortable in front of the camera and both her and Anthony were naturals.

At the reception it was wonderful watching the guests as they entered the room for the first time; Everyone had their phones out, taking pictures and oohing and aahing over the exquisitely decorated ballroom. The couple hired a painter to capture their wedding in a different way – so he got a beautiful painting of their ceremony and then painted a beautiful piece of them dancing in their reception room – just another magnificent way to capture the day! Brittany’s parents gave emotional  speeches, and gave all of us either a lump in our throat or tears on our cheeks – you could feel how much love was permeating that room! After dinner and dances, more fun followed; Anthony and his former fraternity brothers ‘serenaded’ Brittany with a song, and Brittany’s parents asked the ASU choir to come in and surprise the couple with a beautiful rendition of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’. Brittany and Anthony participated in the Hora, and had all their guests up on the dance floor to and clapping along. The entire day was magical – for a couple who truly deserved a perfect wedding.

Happy Anniversary | Jennifer & Nicholas

bloganniversaryJennifer&Nicholas

What are your names?
Nicholas and Jennifer Loving

What is your anniversary date?
September 29, 2007

How long have you now been married?
6 years

We’d love to share with everyone how you met, can you tell that story?
We have always lived within 5 miles if one another but because of school zoning we did not meet until our freshman year of high school. 17 years ago. We dated on and off through the rest of high school. It was young love. After we graduated, we went to college together and have been inseparable ever since. We have now known each other for over half of our lives.

And of course we have to tell everyone how you got engaged… it’s our favorite part; please share!
We had plans on building our first house together. Everything was still in the planning stages–or so I thought. Then one day Nick picks me up and blindfolds me. After driving about 10 minutes he stops the car. He takes me out of the car and tells me to take off my blindfold. To my surprise, I am standing at the start of our new house. The foundation had been poured and they were getting ready to frame. I couldn’t believe it. What a wonderful surprise! But that wasn’t the only surprise I got…Nick also got down on one knee, in what would soon be our new home–our first home, and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes!

Please tell us about your wedding? What were some of the details? Where was it? What were your favorite parts?
We got married and had our reception at a wonderful venue–Heston Hills. We got married in the Fall and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect.
The wedding colors were plum with lime green accents. I made our aisle runner and we had tons of beautiful flowers. We loved being surrounded by our friends and family. It was one heck of a party!

What is the best memory you have from your wedding day?
Seeing my future husband waiting for me at the end of the aisle. It had been a long time coming and I was finally going to be his wife!

Of course we have to hear about your pictures, since we were your photographers. What was it like having Kimberly photograph your wedding? What do you remember most about your photography?
We got our photos taken before the ceremony. I will never forget the look on Nick’s face when he turned around and saw me for the first time in my wedding dress. He gave a big thumbs up! (totally Nick) We had such a blast goofing off with our wedding party and Kim as she took our photos! It truly started the party!

LovingAnniversary

What is your favorite picture to this day?
How do you pick just one?  We loved all of our wedding photos–even our photos from our trash the dress session the day after our wedding. From Nick giving the big thumbs up when he first saw me in my wedding dress, to our wedding party goofing off, to the pictures that we took at McDonald’s–because yes, we had to stop at McDonalds before we got married, to our family partying it up during the reception, we really do have many favorite photos. But we would have to say that our most favorite is this portrait of the two of us.  While we were excited to share the day with our friends and family, this picture represents a quiet moment between the two of us on our wedding day.

Now that your wedding is over, what is the one thing you look back on and are so thankful that you did?
We are so thankful that we hired Kim as our wedding photographer. We have never had as much fun getting our pictures taken as we did with Kim on our wedding day…well, except for maybe our engagement pictures and trash the dress pictures with Kim. We just instantly clicked. Her photos are absolutely gorgeous and we are so so glad that we have them to look at for the rest of our life!

How has life changed since your wedding day, please fill us in on all the details (moves, kids, new houses, promotions, etc).
We have packed in quite a bit in our 6 years of marriage. We have built another house, visited Europe on our honeymoon, taken the whole family to Grand Cayman, or as our daughter refers to it, “The Big Sandbox”, and most importantly, we have had three wonderful children.

If you have kids can you please share with us about them… we LOVE to hear fun kid stories.
We have 3 wonderful kiddos. Hannah (5) was born shortly after our first anniversary. She is spunky and sassy and knows everything, just ask her. Colson (3) is the only boy out of the siblings and 4 cousins. He is our little man and he has the biggest heart of all the children we have ever met.  He shares everything with his sister even when she doesn’t share with him.  Hailey (5 months) was the final piece to our family. While we found out via ultrasound what we were having with the first two kids, we did not find out what we were having during the last pregnancy so it was a great surprise when the doctor said “It’s a girl!”

Do you have any updated pictures? Tell us about this picture that you are sending to us.
This is a picture from our most recent photo session–taken one month after Hailey was born.  We both wish that Kim lived locally because we would love for her to be able to take some family photos of us. Photo credit: Nichole Frank Photography.

LovingAnniversary2

When you were newly weds did you picture this would be your life, this many years after your wedding?
Short answer, yes.  We always envisioned having at least two kids, but the decision to go for three was pretty easy.  Neither one of us would change a thing.

If you were to go back in time and tell your newly engaged selves one thing, what would it be?
Dear past self, remember to always treat your significant other the way you are treating them before you get married because you might sometimes forget the fun of actually dating your love after the adult responsibilities of marriage set in.

Do you have any advice for new bride and grooms?
Write down some things that you remember from your wedding because it will all become a blur and you will not remember anything a week later.  All we really remember from our wedding is that it was the best party we have ever been to. At least we have Kim’s wonderful photographs to remember the details!

Fall 2014 Sessions

It’s that time of year again where things start going warp speed and before you know it the Holidays are here and it’s time to send out cards to all of your friends and family. If you are like most of us, you aren’t really thinking about Holiday Cards yet, because you are trying to just survive in the month that it is now. However, if your not careful, when it’s time to choose the amazing picture that everyone on your Holiday list is expecting (especially Grandma)  you’ll realize that the only family picture you have of everyone remotely looking at the camera is from the camping trip this summer when the random stranger asked if you’d like a quick picture and snapped a picture with your iphone; And, while it’s a pretty decent picture, none of you had showered for 5 days and let’s just say it’s not 100% grandmother acceptable for a holiday card.

Do you really want to be that person…. again? I say NO! It’s time to think ahead and plan for that amazing family photo. This time you are going to book your session with Kimberly Jarman, while the deal is amazing and the weather is cooling, and you are going to have AMAZING pictures to proudly display all over your house & all over your Facebook!

HOLIDAY CARDS

“If you can’t do something perfect, make sure that you find someone perfect to do it for you.” – Kimberly Jarman

I’m so excited that we have found a solution to our Holiday Cards! While we love design and cards, it’s not something that we specialize in, so i’ve been looking high and low for a way to make it easy for you (our clients) to order holiday cards! We have partnered with Tiny Prints this year to help with the ordering and printing of your Holiday cards. Tiny Prints is a leading retailer of premium personalized holiday photo cards and has been recognized for their high quality prints and unmatched customer service. Each card ordered is also hand reviewed before it’s printed to ensure quality and accuracy. To start your order through Tiny Prints, please click on the link on the banner, or you can also find the link under our partners side bar on the left side of our blog. The link  will lead you to our co-branded Tiny Prints Storefront. From here, you can shop for any product on the Tiny Prints site or review a few of our favorite choices.

* Studio Attribution – Clicking on our co-branded Tiny Prints Storefront also ensures that we receive credit for referring a customer to Tiny Prints. This includes our studio name on the back of the cards that you order with a small text based attribution. If you have a concern with our studio name being printed on the back of your cards, you have the option of removing it in the card preview section. The text-based attribution is small, fits in well with the design on the back of the card and is movable
