The Price of Photography…..

I’m always on other photographers blogs and reading what everyone is up to. Today I was checking out a local photographers blog, Ana Frias , and I loved a post that she put up on the Price of Photography.

Many people often wonder why photographers charge so much for their services. It is hard to explain all the details of what go into a shoot or a wedding, but once you understand everything that professional photographer does to make sure that you get the PERFECT image, I think it starts making more sense.

Ana pointed out an article from another photographers website and I think it really does a good job explaining everything, so I wanted to share it. You can find the article here.

Amanda Wilson (www.photosbyaw.com) - Ah!!!! Wow if I could only print this on a polo shirt and wear it while i was shooting. It’s so hard to convince people that they deserve better than drug store prints for their wedding album. Everyone just wants the CD at the end – and they get mad when you actually want to charge $$ for the CD. In my region there are a ton of photographers who are just shooting the wedding and at the end of the day taking the cards out of the cameras, burning them to a CD on their laptop and handing it to the client. This drives me UP THE WALL. Sometimes I actually lose clients to other photographers because I don’t just hand them a CD. And I’m “too expensive”. How will they feel when they are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and their drugstore wedding photos have faded and turned green and deteriorated and there’s nothing to show their grandkids? This is such a pet peeve of mine. Such a good article!
