What are your names?
Leor & Samantha Lapid
What is your anniversary date?
March 31st, 2012
How long have you now been married?
2 years!
We’d love to share with everyone how you met, can you tell that story?
We met through Greek life at ASU. (Kim shot our enagement photos at ASU so we can relive this time!) We had mutual friends and met each other about 6 months before we started dating. We went to a party for a friend and hit it off. It was history from there.
And of course we have to tell everyone how you got engaged… it’s our favorite part; please share!
Samantha’s family publishes local magazines so Leor came up with a very creative idea to propose to her. He decided he would take out a full page ad in one of the magazines {So Scottsdale! Magazine} Samantha proofs the magazines each month but last minute the production team slipped in this secret ad. On her Birthday March 23rd, 2011 at her parents house the new March issue arrived. Her dad told her she had messed up an ad in the magazine. She freaked out! She turned to the page and saw this:( see below) Leor was down on one knee (in the same suit as the ad) and said: “So will you??” Samantha couldn’t help but cry and shake her head yes. Best Birthday/Best proposal EVER!!
Please tell us about your wedding?
What were some of the details? Where was it? What were your favorite parts? Our wedding was the best day of our lives! Samantha really had a vision going into the wedding of how she wanted the day to go and the room to look. We did a glam look. We wanted colors that weren’t the “in” colors of the season. We like to be different and a little more edgy. cobalt blue and yellow were our colors. Sam had to have feathers in the centerpieces and blinged out details. It was at the Ritz Carlton in Phoenix. This was the perfect venue for us since they only hosted one event per evening in their ballroom and it had that urban feel. The cocktail hour and ceremony were out on the pool deck. I think the breeze blowing that night and the intimate ceremony was one of our favorite parts. Not to mention the amazing band playing for the reception to dance the night away!
What is the best memory you have from your wedding day?
The best memory from our wedding would have to be our ceremony. It was a traditional Jewish ceremony. Our Rabbi had us come in multiple times before our wedding. He got to know us on a personal level and made it that much better.
Of course we have to hear about your pictures, since we were your photographers. What was it like having Kimberly photograph your wedding? What do you remember most about your photography? What is your favorite picture to this day?Having Kim and her amazing team made the photos AMAZING! We show off our album ALL the time! She and her team were so easy going. They told us exactly how to pose and it didn’t take a super long time for her to get what she needed. I liked the most that you didn’t really notice the photographers during the ceremony or the reception. My biggest pet peeve was that the photographers usually get in the way of people having fun at the wedding. Kim got great shots without being in everyone’s way. Favorite photo to this day would be one that kim captured outside of the hotel while the sun was setting. We have it hanging on our wall at home!
Now that your wedding is over, what is the one thing you look back on and are so thankful that you did?
Photography and videography. The day goes by so quickly and you try to stay in the moment but it is very hard. When you have great documentation of the day, you can go back and relive each moment as often as you want.
How has life changed since your wedding day, please fill us in on all the details (moves, kids, new houses, promotions, etc).
Life has changed a lot over the past 2 years. We bought a house together this past December and we are now expecting a baby girl in May!! We are so overjoyed with all of the fun and exciting changes life is bringing us!
If you have kids can you please share with us about them… we LOVE to hear fun kid stories.
Just a dog & one on the way!
Do you have any updated pictures?
Tell us about this picture that you are sending to us. This is not a professional photo but this is one from Sam’s Baby shower a few weeks ago 🙂
When you were newly weds did you picture this would be your life, this many years after your wedding?
I think this is exactly what we pictured our life being like. We have been together over 7 years now and we knew we wanted to create a home together and start a family. We are so lucky we now have both!
If you were to go back in time and tell your newly engaged selves one thing, what would it be?
Relax. Everything will come together for the wedding day. Enjoy each moment because it goes extremely fast!
Do you have any advice for new bride and grooms?
On your wedding day, take in every moment you can. Take each other’s hand while the reception is happening and take a deep breath in. Look around and see all of the happiness surrounding you and take in that moment, you will remember it forever! Just remember that each couple’s wedding day is exactly perfect to them and not to compare it with anyone else’s. It is your special day and just relax!
