Baby Love: First-Hand Experiences from our client, Heather

Compiled by: Elise, Associate and Newborn photographer for Kimberly Jarman Photography

Throughout the whole month of February, we’ve been posting about newborns photography, trying to communicate as many details as possible so parents know what to expect before they go in for their newborn photos. So we figured what better way to show that then to hear from one of our recent clients! Heather did a great job detailing how a session goes – we love reading it from her point of view!

From Heather: “Having a baby is a big occasion and what better way to remember it than by getting professional newborn pictures.  When I was pregnant, I knew I wanted pictures done to have a keepsake of the newest addition to our family.  I contacted Kimberly Jarman about 2.5 months before my due date.  After Grayson was born, we scheduled our session for when he was a week old.

The whole process from scheduling to receiving the pictures was easy. We chose to have our photo session at Kim’s house, which worked out really well for us.  It made it less stressful overall as everything was already set up.  For someone who did not come as prepared as I should have, Kim made it look like I did.  She had this pretty green blanket that complimented his red hair.  There were other blanket colors to choose from as well as diaper covers.  We brought along a couple props that were incorporated really well into our pictures. NewbornPictures9 The biggest advice I can give is to have everything ready in advance.  Have the props and any outfit you want picked out and ready to go before the baby is born.  Also, write down any specific poses you want done.  Since newborns can be unpredictable, keep an open mind during the session.  For the last half, Grayson did not want to go back to sleep.  Even though he wasn’t sleeping, he still had some really cute shots. These pictures will last a lifetime and will always be cherished.”
