Changes: Sometimes easy. Sometimes hard. Always good

What a crazy crazy year it’s been!! It’s been good! There have been so many changes at the studio and I couldn’t be happier for what has happened. Change always happens. It is a way of life and is necessary for people to grow and businesses to grow. I always get excited when change is in the air, because I know big things are ahead for us! Sometimes change can easy and sometimes it can be hard. Sometimes it can make you party and dance, sometimes it can make you reflect, cry, and be still.

Today I have to let you know of some changes. While there are a ton of party and dance changes happening at the studio, today’s change is one of those reflect, cry and be still changes. It hasn’t been easy to accept or understand, but it’s necessary and gonna be really good.

One of the things I always talk to my girls (team) about is letting me know when things are going on in their lives. Making sure that they are happy. Making sure that the “team” is working out. I have an open door policy to everyone to be open and upfront. I want everyone to be taken care of and happy.

We are a tight nit group. We laugh together and we cry together. We truly love each other and want what is best for each other.

It’s been a tough economy this year and because of that there have been a lot of struggles for everyone!! Not just us as a team, but everyone around. Everyone has felt it.

There are actually 3 big changes to the studio that are occurring right now that I need to share with everyone.

1) About a month ago I got a call from KB. The minute I started talking to her I realized it was probably going to be a crying call. We had a lot to talk about. She had decided that in order to provide best for her family she needed to go back on her own in photography. While she LOVED working for the studio and being an associate and having a lot of time with her family, she needed to make a change which was going to best for her family. We talked, we cried, we cried some more and we finally came to the conclusion that it was for the best. I was so sad, not because I didn’t want the best for her, but because I felt like I was loosing such a huge part of me with her not being around. However, I support her decision 100%. We have to do what is best for our family.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Don’t panic all of you who love KB, and love the KJ Studio or have already booked KB or were thinking of booking KB…don’t panic.

KB has committed to stay on the team and 100% fulfill all of her duties that she has taken on. She will still be shooting her weddings for the studio and any portrait sessions that she has agreed to do. She is not accepting any more weddings or sessions through the studio, but will be doing limited sessions on her own.

As for the studio, we are still going strong. We are shooting and doing business as normal. We are working with one of our other amazing photographers, Christa, who we were already planning on having come on as an associate with KB next year, and are hashing out details so that we do have an associate photographer available for all of you who still want that Kimberly Jarman Studio Wedding and are on a budget. So no worries, we’ve got you covered!!!

2) Our other wonderful associate Mary Jordan (who was photographing portraits for us) has also decided that she needs to go on her own. This has been a hard decision for her, but it’s necessary. We have been so busy with weddings that we haven’t photographed as many portrait sessions this year and you can’t take care of your family if you are not working…so, Mary will be doing her own sessions and weddings. She is a phenomenal photographer and I’m so happy for her and for going out there on her own. Great news about Mary though is that she will 100% still be 2nd shooting on our team at weddings, which is what she’s been doing the last year. So I don’t feel like I’m loosing her at all, she’s just blossoming on her own.

3) Christa, our other associate, has been working with me for over a year 2nd shooting as well. I’ve been mentoring her for almost 2 years now and she is amazing. She has grown so much in her photography and I’m so happy for her. We are having meetings lately to see if it would work for her to come on as an associate. We are hashing out some details and making sure we do everything in a way that will be beneficial for her, me, and all of you!! We are excited to see what will be happening with this and will announce that news as soon as we have it available.

While all of this has been hard and emotional for everyone, we are all so thankful that it has gone well. We all still love each other dearly and are very happy for the changes this brings in everyone’s family. I am very happy to see what happens in these girls lives and careers and excited to see what will happen to the studio as well.

Please know that this is a good thing for all. I support these girls 100% and am thankful to be a part of their lives.

The studio is still growing strong and there are so many things that I can’t wait to share with all of you. New projects, new opportunities, and new ideas.

If you have any questions about this or what this means for you or the studio, don’t hesitate to contact us!
